The Pathway To Your Results
The Liminal Space: Navigating Life's In-Between Moments
The liminal space represents a powerful transitional phase where we're caught between our old identity and new self, much like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. This threshold space creates fertile ground for personal evolution despite its discomfort and uncertainty.
• The liminal space feels like being in "caterpillar soup" – no longer your old self but not yet your new self
• Physical manifestations include airport waiting rooms, hotel lobbies, and doctor's office waiting areas – all in-between spaces
• Divine order is operating even when it feels like chaos – the universe takes away to give something greater
• Outgrowing relationships, environments, and activities signals you're evolving into your next phase
• The struggle against the cocoon is what develops your wings and strength to fly
• Intuition does its finest work in the liminal space, guiding you when logic cannot
• Trust and resilience are necessary energies to move through transitional phases
• Standing up for yourself becomes crucial as you step into your new vibration

Once you see what you actually are, that you're an infinite, limitless being, you'll see that nothing exists outside of you. I'm your host, derek Grant, and this is the Pathway to your Results Podcast. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Pathway to Results podcast, presented by DG Mindset. It is your boy, dg. Oh, my goodness, if I have not been waiting to do this episode. I just say, see, I told you all how my episodes work. I have to wait till it gets down, like in me, right? I get a download and sometimes it takes weeks. I get something that comes in. I'm like, okay, here's the topic, but I need it to crystallize, I need it to ferment, I need it to what's that word? It needs to ripen before I can go ahead and let it out.
Speaker 1:I've been wanting to do something on this for a while, because I've been in this space I know all of us probably have. We're moving into a transition. If you look at everything that's happened, astrologically, karmic loops are being tied up, meaning the old is being let go of Things that used to serve us don't serve us anymore. So those cords are getting cut, but the new hasn't yet come into our physical reality, it hasn't yet shown itself. So now we're kind of in this in-between stage. Wait, where am I? Am I at my goal? Am I still at the old? I don't know where I am.
Speaker 1:They have a term for this. This is called the liminal space. So the liminal space refers to a transitional or an in-between space. So sometimes we refer to this as the void, sometimes we refer to this as the gap, sometimes we refer to this as the dark, sometimes we refer to this as what do they call this? The bridge.
Speaker 1:You're in the cocoon, you're in between. I'm caterpillar soup, meaning I'm not the butterfly yet and I'm not the caterpillar. So basically, this is where the old way no longer works, but the new way hasn't yet fully arrived. So if you look at the etymology of the word liminal, it comes from the Latin word limen, which means threshold. Good God, almighty, put your seatbelt on, because we've got to get started. See, this is the state of being on the threshold between two different phases of life, two different identities, two different experiences, two different vibrations, two different frequencies. You're in between. You're not at 99.5 yet and you're not at 99.3 anymore. You're the in between of 99.4 and you're in this limbo.
Speaker 1:You don't know where am I? What am I? Am I a caterpillar? Am I a butterfly? Am I a frog? Am I a tadpole? I don't know what I am. Am I this of what my old career said I am? Or am I a full-blown entrepreneur? I feel all these things coming. Who am I? What am I? I don't know what I am, and this is when you start to question yourself. So when you start understanding.
Speaker 1:The liminal space is a space of transition. It is a space of growth. This is where major life changes happen. If you notice, if you notice, if you notice the liminal space is happening energetically, good God, almighty. But it's also happening physically. Think about the liminal space in the physical world. When you walk into a doctor's office and you walk into the doctor's office, you ain't outside anymore, but you ain't yet in the doctor's office. And what do they have for you? They have what they call the waiting room. Do you understand what the waiting room is? You see, you walk into a hotel. They got the lobby. This is what the lobby was. The lobby was the liminal space. So, instead of you sitting here looking at the liminal space as something is negative, if we look at it as a holding pattern oh wait, we see it on the same thing.
Speaker 1:When we got airplanes Airplane yet ain't at its destination, but it's not at where it left at. And here it is circling around because there's some things that have to clear out in order for that plane to land, there's some things that have to get out of the way in order for that plane to have a safe touchdown. Do you see what I'm saying? Are you picking what I'm dropping off right now? So you are in that in-between, that liminal stage right now, that liminal phase, because there are some things that the universe has to tidy up in order for you to land your plane. You can't go right there right now. It ain't time yet, you ain't ready for it yet. There's some things that had to be cleared out to make a way for this new version of you, for you, to get there. And here's the beauty of it the room is being cleared out because you're going to be just a little bit bigger when you get in there. You see, some furniture had to be moved around because what you were coming with now there wouldn't have been enough room.
Speaker 1:So this is why I'm telling you got to have to use the energy of trust when you're in this liminal space. See, we often look at this as the dark times, but if you start to look at it as an opportunity, this is where the growth, this is where the transformation is. Transformation is. This is where the universe invites you to confront all of these wounds, these insecurities, these shadows, to start making conscious choices towards the next version of you, towards the next phase. So yeah, it's going to be uncomfortable, but guess what? This is the fertile ground, the foundation for reflection, self-discovery, reinvention. You see what I'm saying. So this is why I'm telling you you're going to have to have the energy of courage, you're going to have to have the energy of resilience If you are going to be in this liminal space and move to the next iteration, the next phase. I get it.
Speaker 1:You don't know where you are, you don't know what you are. And if you look at mankind, if you look at mankind, humanity, we're going through this as a collective right now. Look what's going on in our world right now. Look, man, what, the what is going on. We're in this transition stage right now. Got to be torn down. Everything's got to be torn down. It's got to be torn, but the new ain't here yet. So we feel like we're in chaos. You're not in chaos. It's not chaos because you got to understand how this universe operates. This universe operates in divine order. Hear me when I say this it operates in divine order, so nothing's out of place, nothing.
Speaker 1:You know that the caterpillar didn't have to go to college. You do know that, right. The caterpillar never had to go to med school. The caterpillar never had to go get a certification to go to med school. The caterpillar never had to go get a certification. The caterpillar never had to go get its doctorate to figure out how it was going to become a butterfly.
Speaker 1:Here's what it was going to have to do. It was going to have to get its butt up on that tree, up on that branch. It was going to have to wrap itself up in that cocoon. It was going to have to be okay with being confined. Good God, almighty, y'all ain't trying to hear nothing I'm saying right now. It was going to have to be okay with being confined. Good God, almighty, y'all ain't trying to hear nothing. I'm saying right now. It was going to have to be okay with being in this season of being confined.
Speaker 1:You know how it is when you're confined and you can't move and you feel stuck and nothing's working. You try this and that doesn't work. You try this this doesn't resonate. This opportunity gets closed. This thing doesn't work. You know how it is, we've all been here. But the difference is is the caterpillar didn't try to get out. The caterpillar stayed in it. The caterpillar knew consciously or unconsciously maybe we'll never know it knew that on the other side, on the other side of this liminal space, there was growth, there was development, there was transformation, there was a new version. So the reason why I'm saying this when you start realizing that everything Is just trying to get you to this threshold, trying to get you to that liminal space. So if you feel like you're in that liminal space right now, congratulations.
Speaker 1:Last episode, when we talked about resilience this is why resilience would be so needed, so needed for the liminal space. You're going to have to stay in this liminal space because life has so much more waiting for you. But in this liminal space, you got some work that you got to do. You got some work you got to do, you got to reflect, you got to heal, you got to learn, and the quicker that you do this, the quicker that you move through the liminal space, the quicker the caterpillar becomes the butterfly. Do we see what I'm saying? Do you understand how this works? I'm trying to make it as simple as I can for you. Really, quite simple.
Speaker 1:We always look at the end result. We look at the end result of something, we look at the destination or we look at when someone's starting, but we don't see that time in between. We don't see this liminal space. You always pay attention to it. Look at when you go fly. They got the time of the destination, of when you're going to get there, and they got the time when you leave. They don't talk about nothing in between, do they? When you get to the doctor's office, they don't talk about nothing in the lobby. It's all about you getting back there to the doctor's office. Do we see? Everything is always based on the start and the destination.
Speaker 1:But I'm telling you that in between of what we call a journey Say it with me the journey, the journey, that liminal space, this time of transition, of growth, of alchemization, this is where you grow. So I got to say this to you Know that when you're in this liminal space, this is when things get shed. Good, god, almighty, if y'all stay with me. If you all stay with me, you're going to see what I'm talking about. You'll know when you're in the liminal space, because you, all of a sudden, may have an urge to not. You don't resonate with people who you used to resonate with anymore. You don't resonate in environments that you used to resonate anymore, for all of a sudden, you feel like you got to do a cleanse of your followers or who you're following. You feel like you got to go through and we may have to move. We may have to get a new house. I may have to switch schools. I may have to, because you are preparing yourself for the new life, the new frequency, and there's fear in that liminal space before you get it, while you're cleaning out, you're going to be afraid because you're not. You don't have yet proof that the new life is here and you left the old life. So what am I going to do? What do I do? Do you see how this works? What am I going to do? What do I do? Do you see how this works? So, when you start realizing that there's going to have to be a change of environment, there's going to have to be a change of environment.
Speaker 1:I have clients where I talk to. When they talk about getting sober, I said when you got sober, did you have to stop hanging out with the people who used to have to? You know where the addiction was taking place. They said, yeah, I stopped hanging out with them. Yeah, you stopped hanging out with them. Yeah, you stopped hanging out with them because the frequencies didn't match, and I know it wasn't easy. Telling those people who you had rooted yourself in this lower frequency with. That was hard. Telling that you can't be with them. What? Yeah, it was really hard. But here's the deal. Ain't nobody going to get sober? Ain't nobody going to grow in the environment that kept you from growing? Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing that I'm saying. So we have to do an audit of the people who's in our life. We have to do an audit of the environment that we're in.
Speaker 1:This is part of you being in the liminal space. It allows you to take a step back and say wait, hold on now, hold on. These friendships and these relationships that I have, these motherfuckers don't even serve for me where I'm going. I'm not there yet, but I'm going to have to cut this off. I'm going to have to say no. And here's the scary part you are saying no before the world shows you that you were already there. Oh, you've changed. Who do you think you are? You got damn right, I'm changing, I changing, you're right, I am. And thank you for pointing this out, because I sometimes question if I was you're right. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Now I know that I actually am and I am on my path. This is the hard part, this is the most challenging part. I see this so often.
Speaker 1:When you are in that liminal space, you will have relationships. On monday, you, by tuesday, you don't even want to talk to him anymore. On Wednesday, you were living in this place. On Thursday, you talk about I'm about to move to Istanbul, I'm moving, I'm out of here. I'm not staying here, no more, I'm out.
Speaker 1:This is why it's so important for you to trust your intuition, because the liminal space is where the intuition does its finest work. Good God, almighty, you ain't trying to hear nothing. You ain't trying to hear nothing. The liminal space is where the intuition does its finest work. See, the head took care of the parts on the outside right, but on the inside. Once you give it that liminal space, once you get to a place where it's like where am I? Am I a caterpillar, am I a butterfly? This is when we go inward. This is when we trust that still small voice inside. This is when we trust that this prompt that's leading me to go left, even though the world is telling me to go right, even though my whole life I had gone right. But something deep down inside of my spirit is saying go left, go left. Just do it, just trust, go left. This is that space. And when you trust that intuition, you're going to have just a little bit of proof. A little bit of proof. You're going to have a little bit of proof that left was the way to go for you in your life.
Speaker 1:I'm going through it right now. I am going through it, I'm learning. See, when I go through stages and phases in life, I like to take notes when I'm going through it, so I can go ahead and put in a metaphor, an analogy, and turn it into a podcast and give it to you all. So this is what is happening right now. I'm telling you right now in my life oh, yeah, yeah, I get there, I get there, I get there. Boom, I make the decision Go and do it Now. I'm like wait, where am I, I feel, stuck. It's not here yet. What do I do? What do I don't understand. Nah, brother, you're in that in-between stage, and the reason why you're in this in-between stage is because life needed you to change, life needed you to let go, life needed you to become something new For that future version that you know is so on the horizon. That in-between stage is where all the growth and development takes place.
Speaker 1:Don't you think the caterpillar would have had some type of inclination to know that it was going to become a butterfly at some point, for it to even get up on the branch to begin with? I'm sure at some point. A question what am I doing here? Why am I doing this? What? What's going on? I'm not a caterpillar anymore, but don't you think that something deep down inside of its soul, the resonance of its being, because everything has the divine flowing through it and emanating through it, as they said in John 1.5, the light that lit up all of mankind everything deep down inside knew that it had another version waiting for it. So the caterpillar got up on that branch with some type of inclination. We call it instinct, I like to call it the divine. It knew that something was was on the other side of it. Getting down from this branch, it was going to become something different. It was not going to be what it was. It did just get up on the branch just to be the same thing it was when it got up.
Speaker 1:You didn't go through this hardship for you to be the same thing that you were when you went in it. You didn't lose everything for you to then come out of it and have less than what you went in with. That ain't the way it works. Do we not know that life will always take away and give more, something more aware, something more capable, something more possible? Life does not take away and then give less. How in the world is the universe ever going to grow? How's the universe going to expand? If there's a taking away, there's going to have to be a giving away of something of equal or more way of something of equal or more.
Speaker 1:So if you know this and you are in this stage, you are in this stage. Good God, almighty, stay with me. If you are in this stage where you feel like you're in the cocoon, you're in this liminal space, you're in a holding pattern. You're in the lobby. You ain't at the room yet you ain't at the destination. Please know that. Them motherfucking wings are coming and all you needed was for one little wing to poke through, good God, almighty.
Speaker 1:And the wings don't come out all at one time. If you watch a butterfly, the wings don't all come out at one time. They don't come all out at one time. It has to work itself out of the cocoon, meaning you got to work yourself out of this transitional stage. You have to keep pushing. This is why I told you on the last podcast resilience was so important, because that's what's gonna get your wings out of a cocoon.
Speaker 1:And each time the wing tries to get out of a cocoon, guess what ends up happening? The struggle of it getting out is what's developing the muscle for it to fly. Good God, almighty, you ain't trying to hear nothing I'm saying right now. The struggle and the transition is what's developing you for you to fly. Just keep poking that wing out. Just keep stretching, just keep evolving. Just keep doing things that are challenging, keep doing things that are uncomfortable, keep doing things that make you question who you are. Keep going back into your past and finding those wounds and having tough conversations with yourself and standing up for yourself. Somebody's going to bully you. Somebody's going to say you can't you stand up, that mother, and say, look what the fuck are you talking about? Why are you going to sit here and tell me what I should or shouldn't do with my life? How are you going to tell me Stand up for yourself, because that too is a part of you stepping into this newest vibration. See the new earth. The new earth, the new earth are the beings who know what they are and they ain't going to settle for nobody telling them what they ain't.
Speaker 1:I had a kid on my team. A kid said something to him. Another kid said something to him Wildly inappropriate. If this was another man saying it to another man, for sure they would have been throwing hands. He knocked the kid to the ground. The other kid knocked her kid and got up in his face and said something I said. I looked at him. I said listen, man, stick up for yourself because you're worth it. Stick up for yourself because you respect yourself. Don't let somebody think that they can just say whatever. You stick up for yourself because you value and you respect yourself, just like you wouldn't let somebody talk to your mother that way, do that for yourself. You respect yourself. Just like you wouldn't let somebody talk to your mother that way, do that for yourself. This is a part of your evolution. You don't let anybody tell you who you aren't anymore. Do you see how this works? Do you see, in order to do that, you're going to have to go through the transition and go through the struggle of you letting your wing, getting your wings out. So that's why it's so difficult. That's why it's so hard. This is why it's so challenging, because this is the only way you're going to be developed, to become all that you truly were.
Speaker 1:So you may be in the void, in that liminal space. I'm in it right now. I'm telling you and I'm going to tell you what I do when I'm in it. We hunker down, we grit them teeth. We grit those teeth and we pull on that super masculine energy and we said we're going to get down. With the get down, then we're going to have to get to it. It ain't nothing to it, but to get to or through it. Now I'm not telling you have to do this.
Speaker 1:I grow a beard. I grow a beard, say, okay, let's get to it. We're going to get real rugged and we're going to do what we have to do in this liminal space. This is when you exercise the masculine energy inside of you, say we're going to keep pushing. We're going to push through this.
Speaker 1:Right now, times are tough and it's hard. I'm going to show up every single day, every single day. And you know what, when I get done with this existence, when I get done with this life, when I take off these clothes that I call a body and I've turned them in, I've put them in a casket. When you were at my funeral because I'm going to write my eulogy when you were at my funeral, you're not going to be able to say that he didn't get up on the branch and he didn't sit with himself in the branch and he didn't fly when he got out of that cocoon. You're not gonna be able to say that about me. And do you see how this works? If I can do it, you can do it because I am no different than you. You, you have this inside of you, you have this inside of you. You have this inside of you. You have this inside of you, you have it inside of you.
Speaker 1:And here's the deal. I'm not doing none of this out of fear. I'm not doing any of this out of guilt, out of shame, out of a lower, scarce mind. I'm doing this out of inspiration. It's because something inside of me, spiritually, something inside of me cosmically, knows that there's more inside of me spiritually. Something inside of me cosmically knows that there's more. There's more inside of me, just like that caterpillar knew there was something more. It could be. It didn't have to be a ground-dwelling creature, it didn't have to be this creature that could only crawl and eat leaves. It had the ability to become anything that could go anywhere and there were no bounds. It could grow wings.
Speaker 1:This is the difference between doing this out of fear and finding the balance, versus doing it out of inspiration. Do it out of inspiration. Do it because deep down inside you know that you can. Deep down inside you know you can do this. You know you can do this, you know you can. I know I can do this, I know I can do this, I know I can do this. Okay, then do it. Do it. Then Challenge yourself, challenge yourself and when you get out of that cocoon, i'ma be there. Like this you did it. You pushed through this space. You pushed through this lobby, you, you pushed through this lobby, you made it to the room, you landed the plane, but please know that it's going to repeat itself and you're going to have to go through this yet again. The journey will never be done, but the more you start to get the hang of it, the more equipped you will become.
