The Pathway To Your Results
Unlocking Your Potential
Our focus shifts to the unparalleled power of consistent effort and the role of energy as a sought-after commodity in today's world. In a society that constantly battles for our attention, channeling focus into personal growth becomes paramount. Inspired by racehorses with blinders, we explore the necessity of concentrating on our unique paths and embracing the journey rather than fixating solely on outcomes. Teaching the younger generation about effort, energy, and attitude becomes a crucial part of the conversation, laying the groundwork for future success.
Once you see what you actually are, that you're an infinite, limitless being, you'll see that nothing exists outside of you. I'm your host, derek Grant, and this is the Pathway to your Results Podcast. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Pathway to your Results podcast, presented by DG Mindset. It is a privilege, it is an honor Always, truly Because I remember when we didn't get to share time like this. I remember when it was just a thought, it was just an abstract thought. I remember when it was just an imaginative expression. But now here we are, you and I, we get to share space and time. Why, though? Why, you see, this is the way my mind works, why I can tell you why. Well, the reason why was because, over time, I overcame my fear of starting a podcast and putting myself out there and constantly talking to a microphone with no audience. I overcame my fear, and I went ahead and started. I went ahead and did it. So my point of this is because we're going to get started. We might as well. You ain't got nothing else to do. If you just start, you never know where it'll lead to. This was the first step. It was you starting. I don't know if it was a business. I don't know if it was a relationship, I don't know if it was you getting out of a relationship. If you just start, if you just first take the first step, the universe will provide support. Support's waiting. It's waiting for you, but you had to initiate it. Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing. I'm saying we already probably two minutes in and we already getting started. It was waiting for you. Okay, so let me go ahead and say this.
Speaker 1:I sat and thought about it. I've got things going on in my life and everything that I share with you, as I've told you many times before, is nothing more than me in my own life, that I've gone, everything that I've ever accomplished, everything that I didn't do. It always came down to one thing. The first thing, the first thing, the first cause it was whether or not I took the first step. Could I start? Could I start it? So this podcast had been sitting in me for months, three, four, five months. It just been sitting in me and sitting in me and sitting in me, and finally I built up enough courage and decided to go ahead and do it.
Speaker 1:Because here's what ends up happening we won't start something because of fear, and now, because of this fear you won't start it. And now you feel like this conflict within you, and this conflict is the universe trying to tell your soul, your soul trying to tell your human, trying to say, hey, there's more to us than just this. There's more to us just than having a scarce mindset. There's more to us than just lack. There's more to this story. There's more to me. I know I can do more, so I started to think about my life and I started to just listen to clients and everything.
Speaker 1:I was talking to a client of mine and I was talking to him about the law of cause and effect and how every cause will always yield an effect and how every effect will then become the cause of a new effect, so forth and so on. So nothing in this life is coincidental. In this third dimension, everything is really quite simple. Everything is simple. It's just cause and effect.
Speaker 1:Now the question is can I influence and have power over the cause? If I can have power over the cause, I'm going to create the effect. So I started to ask myself what is the first cause in my life? What is the cause? I am the cause, I will always be the cause. You are the cause in your life, you will always be the cause, so if you take care of you, you will take care of everything else that comes after that. That's what we call sequences or consequences, with sequence moving in sequential order. But what happens is we focus on the effect and we never take care of the cause. You focus on the goal and never take care of the things that will produce the goal. You focus on the product and then we don't focus on the thing that we call the process. So this is why everybody always say oh, trust the process, trust the process. It's because the process was going to always produce the product. So you know me, king Metaphor, the metaphorical warrior me I got it. You know me, I'm constantly. Once I learned that this universe was holographic, I was sitting here thinking about what is? I got it. You know me, I got I'm constantly. Once I learned that this universe was holographic, I was sitting here thinking about what is? What's a good metaphor for this thing that we call cause and effect?
Speaker 1:There's a saying. There's a saying that used to say the grass is greener where you water it. The grass isn't greener on the other side, the grass is greenest where you water it at. And I don't know if you've ever heard this before, but I got to say it again the grass isn't greener On the other side. The grass is greenest where you water it. Because here's what happens so often. We'll look at what somebody else is doing. You look at where somebody else is. You'll look at where you could have been. You'll look at what you could have done, you'll look at where. Maybe if I had made this decision earlier? No, no, the grass is going to be greenest wherever you water. So let's look at the analogy of this the grass is greener where you water it, and when you don't water it, guess what? The grass is going to turn brown. But here's what happens.
Speaker 1:A lot of us don't water the grass while it's green. Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing. I'm saying we wait till the grass gets brown and then we start to water it. We don't water it when it's green, but you were supposed to be watering the grass even when it was green. Because when you wait till it gets brown, now you're going to start coming out of fear, you're going to start coming out of lack, you're going to start coming out of poverty. So now I make choices out of fear, I make choices out of desperation Instead oh my gosh, you ain't trying to hear nothing I'm saying, instead of me making this decision, this choice out of abundance, saying you know what Things are rolling, I'm going to try something new. I'm going to put myself out there. We'll wait till we get down to the bare minimum. And now we're like I got to do something. What I got to do, what I got to do, do we see? So don't wait till your grass gets brown before you start watering it. You got to nurture it ground before you start watering it. You got to nurture it. You got to do the same things every single day, as if you know it's going to happen and knowing no one's going to see it.
Speaker 1:I'm just only telling you what I've done in my life and I've always been this way, unbeknownst to me. I just assumed that everybody was like this. I always have taken pride in doing what I had to do when no one could see it. Even to this day, y'all look, nobody's nobody sees what I do. I've been in 2025, 2026. I've been there. I've been there hanging out doing what I was going to do in 2025, 2026, 2027. You may be listening to this in 2026, 2027. Please know that whatever you see in 2026, 2027, he was doing it back in 2024. See in 2026, 2027. He was doing it back in 2024. Because I knew that this was going to be the process that would take care of the product we want to get to the future result, but we don't realize it's going to be happening in the present circumstances.
Speaker 1:So I say that, focus on your growth, not comparing yourself to where you could have been, where you should have been, where he is, what he's done, what someone who looks like you, I tell you. I wasted a lot of years at one point. This is you watering somebody else's grass. But here's what we'll do We'll water somebody else's grass, meaning we'll put attention into somebody else's life. We'll put more attention into somebody else's life than we do our own. That's what we call gossip, that's what we call talking about people. We will put more into someone else's life, more energy through our attention, than we put into our own. And then we'll be over here looking like why is my grass not growing? How come my life has not changed yet? Why am I still in the same situation? How do I maximize my full potential? How do I get out of my own way.
Speaker 1:Well, first thing, you have to take the most prized commodity that you had. See, they made you think it was time. Anybody who told you time was the most prized commodity was lying, because time was something that we all in the third dimension had equal parts of. Each of us had 24 hours. Each of us only had the present moment. So don't no, no, no, no, no, it's not time. It's not time.
Speaker 1:The most valuable prize commodity in this entire physical universe is what we call energy, also known as your attention. We can look at mainstream media. Why do you think they're over here fighting for your attention? Everywhere you look, you got ads, you got social media. You got the news you over here talking about oh, I want to go get this robe, I want to do it. All of a sudden, you hop on Amazon and there it is. They were sitting there listening to you, your phone was listening to you and now they put it right in front of you. Because we're constantly vying for people's attention, because your attention was energy. Energy was creating this reality in this third dimension.
Speaker 1:But here's the mess. Here's where we get mixed up. We take the energy and we look at somebody else's life Every time that you are comparing yourself to somebody else. You could have used that energy on yourself. Why do you think, when they go and race horses at the Kentucky Derby, the Belmont Stakes, the Preakness, why do you think these horses have blinders? Because if they are not careful, these unbelievable species beasts of an animal, whatever you want to call it just unbelievable machines they will give attention to the horse running next to them or something else, and now they're not focused on what they had to do.
Speaker 1:For the next minute we do this. Maybe some of us got to go ahead and turn into our Arabian stallion or our Clydesdales and put on our blinders and stop focusing on what somebody else is doing and spend that energy on yourself. Spend that water that you've been using to water somebody else's grass, spend that on your lawn, and now you won't have to look at somebody else's lawn and be like why is this lawn bigger than mine? No, I'm just going to water my grass. And here's the deal. Fall in love with watering the grass. Don't fall in love with seeing the grass grow. Let me go ahead and say this again, because I don't think you really understand what I'm saying. Fall in love with the process that would produce the product, and then you will always get the product, because the process was the cause and the product was the effect.
Speaker 1:Focus on the steps, focus on the little things. We call these daily standards. We call this non-negotiables. You do those things that nobody gives up about because our society does not glamorize that. The society doesn't glamorize you showing up every single day doing the same thing with no results. It doesn't. I'm teaching my 12-year-old son this. I told him. I said you got to get up, you got to do pushups, you got to meditate every single day. We're going to do it for 30 days.
Speaker 1:He made it to day 25 and he stopped. I said why'd you stop? He said because I wasn't seeing any results. I said, lord, have mercy, son, hear me when I say this. I told you from the beginning I didn't have you do this so you would see results. That wasn't why you did it. You did it so you could start to develop the muscle of doing what wasn't seeming like it was working, just doing that every day and creating a value imbalance within this universe, and then eventually the universe would pay you back. This is what the whole point of it was. I said hey, we got to start over broskies, we got to start over. He started to break down and kind of tell me why he stopped. He said I just didn't see what was the point of it. I said okay, you're right, sometimes it's easier to know or keep going when you know where the destination is. So we sat down and reset it and he wrote down his goals. He said here's what I want to do Boom, boom, boom. So now he knows whatever he's doing, it's always leading to that, do we see?
Speaker 1:So the other reason why we got to water the grass, even when it's green, is because this consistency in effort is going to always pay dividends. The consistency in your effort will always pay dividends. There's only three things that we have control over your effort, your energy, your attitude, your effort. Your energy, your attitude, your effort, your effort, which is your willpower, your energy, which is your attention, and your attitude. Your attitude, which is your willpower, your energy, which is your attention, and your attitude, your attitude, which is your perspective. These are the things that you had control over. So if I can consistently do something, even when I don't want to do it, even when I don't see results, guess what's going to happen, you're going to become more successful. Successful meaning you're going to keep moving forward by you improving yourself through regular, consistent, intentional action.
Speaker 1:Like water and grass, you got to be consistent and deliberate. You can't water grass one day and then the next day you don't, and then one day you're going to do it and I'm going to do it for a week and the next three weeks I ain't going to do it. You're going to come back. That grass is going to be brown as a paper bag. You have to keep doing and watering, even when it is green, even when things are rolling. Don't change just because you're having a little bit of success. How many times do we see this? We get on top of the mountain and we fall off.
Speaker 1:I got guys look, I got guys in the NBA that I work with and it's like man. You hear the story. Like man. He was an All-American in high school. He was college blah, blah, blah. He got the NBA and then he fell off. What happened? Because he stopped watering his grass. The grass got green. It it was luxurious, it was soft, it was plush, it was just the best grass ever. And then he stopped. He stopped. You got to keep watering your grass, even when that is green.
Speaker 1:Please hear me when I say this, but the only way to do this is you got to take responsibility for it. The quality of your life is going to be shaped by how you choose to cultivate it. So, blaming other people, I started to realize. I started to realize anytime that you blame, that means there's a limited mindset, a limited belief system. Anytime that you will blame, you have a limited subconscious belief that is below the surface. So when you start to realize my blaming is actually trying to show me what was below the surface. It's trying to show me what I was unconscious of.
Speaker 1:If I'm blaming circumstances or I'm blaming people, I'm blaming my outcome. I'm blaming where I'm at my upbringing. How many times do we hear this oh, if I could be just so much further. My family, you don't understand what I grew up with and my conditions. These are excuses. And if there's an excuse that much further, my family, you don't understand what I grew up with and my conditions. These are excuses. And if there's an excuse, that means there's a limiting belief below the surface.
Speaker 1:So part of this, a lot of this, has to do with who your environment is or what's in your environment, your relationships, and you got to make sure that you nurture those too. You have to nurture your relationships. I never knew what this meant. Nurturing your relationships is having the realization and awareness of who is around you, who has influence over you, who is around me? This could be your spouse, it could be your partner, it could be a business partner. It doesn't matter who is getting my energy, who is getting my attention. I got to make sure Am I around people who upgrade me and help me get to the next level, or am I around people who pull me down? Because if you're around people who pull you down, it's not that it's negative, because you can grow and learn from that too. But the reality of it is you also probably ain't going to be watering your grass and all of a sudden you're going to turn around and it's brown. This was me. Hello.
Speaker 1:Five years ago I was not watering my grass. I'd be looking at everybody else's grass. Matter of fact, here you can take my hose. I'll go and water your grass for you. Before I know it, I come back to my lawn and my lawn is burnt to a crisp.
Speaker 1:You know how it is during the summer when you go through that drought during the summer. When you go through that drought usually July or August and you live in the Midwest and they come on, they tell you do not water your grass. You're not allowed to water your grass because we're going through a drought. And you walk out on that grass and that grass is as crunchy as a bunch of Lay's potato chips. Why? Because there's not enough water. But this is what ends up happening we're going to water somebody else's grass. Good God, almighty, y'all stay with me. You'll water somebody else's grass and now, when it's time for you to water your own, you ain't got no water left. I'm going to go ahead and get off right now, because I don't think you're trying to hear what I'm saying. You put all your energy and all your water into somebody else's life, but you never took time to put it into yours. And now here, it is time for you to put something into yours. You got the opportunity, but you ain't got enough water in your hose. Your well ran dry. So I'm telling you now, right now, right now, wherever you are, go and take the hose out, go and turn that thing on max and leave it on. Water your life with the abundance and knowing that everything is going to be at the same level that I am Meaning. Whatever I put into life.
Speaker 1:I may not get a return right away. It may take a couple of years, good God almighty. It may take some time. I may keep chopping my wood and carrying my water. I may have to keep doing this without being recognized, without being acknowledged, without getting that paycheck, without getting that promotion, without getting this marriage to where I thought I could be, without my children listening and seeing life and how I'm trying to teach.
Speaker 1:I may have to get to that point, but I'm still going to keep watering this grass. I'm still going to keep watering this grass because I know eventually, good God almighty, eventually, eventually, that water is going to get through that hard ground and it's going to get down to the roots of where those stems were, where those seeds were. It's going to start to germinate and eventually, eventually, the grass is going to start to change. The grass is going to start to change. And when the grass changes, the question is now do you stop watering it and you rest over your laurels, as my mother would say, or do you start watering even more? And I'm here to tell you this. When you do this, you will start to see how life will ultimately play catch up. And once you get the hang of it, all I got to do is make sure I keep my hose on. So when I say this to you, a big part of this is you being patient. While you're watering, you keep pouring into yourself. Keep pouring into yourself.
Speaker 1:I looked at the numbers the other day. We average between 40,000 and 50,000 downloads of this podcast a month. Worldwide, we're approaching a million downloads, which is kind of crazy, because that was never the intention. It was never the intention. I remember for those of us who were really, who've been around for a while you remember at the beginning of the Pathway to Results podcast. You remember the podcast didn't come out every week. It would come out once or twice a month.
Speaker 1:But then I started to realize that I was going to have to be more consistent. I was going to have to put more into this if I was going to really get this thing off the ground. Meaning one, one episode every other week or once a month wasn't going to work. Here's what I said. Oh, my gosh, here's what I said. I remember I used to say well, nobody's listening. Anyway, it's okay, I don't have to do it every week, but here's what I started doing. I said why don't you stop focusing on doing it for other people and why don't you just fall in love with the grind? Fall in love with doing what you really don't have to do because you think nobody's listening? See if you can do this. See if you can do this when you don't even have to, just like you're telling your son. See if you can just record your podcast and every week you're going to have it come out every Friday at midnight Eastern and see if you can just start doing that.
Speaker 1:And then I started to realize, oh my gosh, I started to realize that I could do it. Then I started to get in the flow and then I started to do two or three podcasts in a sitting and now I got the whole month planned out. And then I started to get to a point where I was five, six, seven, eight months out. That kind of bit me in the back a little bit, because then I was too far ahead. But I started to realize something the more energy I was putting in and I was getting more months and I had a stockpile of podcasts waiting, people like when is this podcast coming out? Oh, that ain't coming out for another four months. I started to notice the more that I put into it, the download started to go up. The viewership started to go up.
Speaker 1:This is what we don't realize in this third dimension. I'm telling you from a metaphysical wizard. I am telling you All that was was the universe catching back up to the energy that I had been putting out, the value that I had been putting into this universe. It had to play catch up. So it's like, oh my gosh, look at all these downloads, look at all this. Well, yeah, look how much energy you had been putting into it.
Speaker 1:So I did an experiment next, with followers. I never bought no followers. I didn't do none of that. I didn't buy followers. I'm not on TikTok, not on Instagram, not that. Here's what I did. Here's what I did. I put more energy out in the universe. I put more value out there.
Speaker 1:I told my guys on my team. I said I just want to make reels that give people value and they'll just sit and binge watch and they'll watch them over and over and over and over. I said we don't got to get paid for it. We ain't got to get paid for it. We ain't got to do none of that. Let's just start making reels and just keep putting them out, and every Sunday we'll meet at this designated location. It was the basement in my office. I said we're going to record every Sunday for three months and we're going to see what it looks like after 90 days.
Speaker 1:Lo and behold, I tell you what we started in November. I said January 1, I said by the time March comes around, we're going to hit 10,000 followers. I think I was at like 8,500 followers. March 1 rolled around, I wasn't at 8,500. Sorry, I wasn't at 10,000. March 2nd, though, I hit 10,000. Everything after that took off. By June 1, we were at 333,000 followers. We went from 10,000 to 333,000 in a matter of less than 90 days.
Speaker 1:Why am I telling you that? It wasn't about the daggone followers. While you, I do love you all. That's not what it was about. It was about us doing the same thing every single week, even when we weren't getting results, because we did it November all the way through March, and it didn't really start to show itself until March. Now here's the deal. You ready for this? How many times would we have quit between November and March because it didn't look like it was working. How many times would we have quit because it didn't look like it was going to go through? How many times do we give up on ourselves because we ain't seeing no results?
Speaker 1:You got to understand how this life works. You got to understand how the third dimension works and how energy works, how light works. The reflection of your life is not instantaneous. There is a slight delay. Think about when you look in a mirror and you smile. When you look in a mirror and you smile, and when your brain, that light, reflects off that mirror and it hits your retinas and it registers in your brain. Do you not know that that takes 13 milliseconds? So that doesn't even happen instantly, even though you can't process it in this third dimension with your physical senses, to realize that it's not instantaneous. There is a 13 millisecond delay of when the light reflects off and hits your retina. Now there's a delay here, too, you can smile at life.
Speaker 1:I'm chopping my wood, I'm carrying my water, I'm watering my grass. I'm doing the same thing every day, with no results, and I'm going to keep watering. I keep watering, I'm watering my grass. I'm doing the same thing every day with no results. And I'm going to keep watering, I keep watering, I keep watering and I keep watering, and you still ain't seeing the results. This is the delay, my friends. This is the delay. And please know if you can stay consistent in smiling at the mirror of life, just as that mirror did on your bathroom wall.
Speaker 1:The mirror of life has no choice but to smile back. It has no choice, and that's the beauty of it. These are laws. These are laws, so they ain't going to look at you. Here's what life says. Life says okay, if you water it with some of that dirty water, some of that contaminated water that you know ain't going to make nothing grow, meaning you keep putting negative energy into yourself. You keep looking at things from a state of lack. You keep looking at things from a state of fear, from living in shame and guilt. If you keep doing that, guess what? We're going to give you grass that'll match that. We're going to give you some dead, crispy, crunchy grass that nobody's going to want to be a part of. And you know what life says too.
Speaker 1:Life says hey, if you want water, it's that good water. I'm talking about that good water. You know the water you buy, when you go to Walmart and you go somewhere and put the kindness in a big jug. That's drinking water. They ain't the water that you go pour on your flowers. When you put that water into it, you put the good water. I mean, I put the positivity, the abundance, the victorious mindset. I don't even see what I'm not capable of, because I can only see the infinite possibilities of what I can do. When you put that energy into it, when you pour that water on your lawn, please believe that that grass is going to grow the exact same way that you were pouring that water on it, because this is a law. The universe doesn't care. She don't care, she does not care. It's either going to be whatever it's going to be, whatever you say it is. If you think there's lack, there's going to be lack. If you think there's abundance, there's going to be abundance. So green grass is abundance, brown grass is fear.
Speaker 1:You understand that your life is just mirroring all of your beliefs. So ask yourself right now what limiting beliefs do I have that are holding me back? What do I have? There's a limiting belief that is holding me back. What is this? And you'll know when the limiting belief shows itself, because you'll start looking at your potential Meaning, that's what you're capable of and you look at your actual results and you'll be like what in the world? I know I can do more. I know I'm capable of more. I know I can do more. Yeah, there's a limiting belief below.
Speaker 1:This is one of the most powerful things you can do for your life is to become aware of the limits of your own mind. If you can become aware of the limits of your own mind, if you can become aware of the limits of your own mind, now there was nothing in your way because you were unlimited to begin with. Now I know what you're probably wondering. Well, d, how do I do that? Well, you're telling us how I got to do it. But how do I do it? Simple, simple.
Speaker 1:Start with your fears. Ask yourself what you're afraid of. What are you afraid of? You have a goal, right, you have a goal. Write that goal down. Write that effect. Write down the top of that mountain. What is it? What's your Mount Everest? Write it down.
Speaker 1:Okay, now that you got that, take some time to imagine you not accomplishing it and never getting to it. You get really close, but you won't do it. Notice what you feel Inadequacy, fears, insecurity, feel upset. Why do you feel upset? Because I didn't reach my full potential. Why were you so afraid of reaching your full potential? What is that? You see, we're getting to the bottom. Now we're finding the limiting beliefs. Eventually, you'll get to the limiting belief and it'll be the fear of not being accepted, that, if I don't accomplish this or if I don't do that, that was the thing that was holding you back. So now, because I have a fear of not okay, we'll say this we have a fear of failure. And now, because I have a fear of failure, I won't even try.
Speaker 1:Do we see how this works? So, when you find yourself procrastinating, you won't do something, you won't start something. Ask yourself do I have a fear of failing? Do I have a fear of failing? Do I have a fear of being rejected? If the answer is yes, this is where you spend your energy. Overcome that fear. Overcome that fear. Well, how do I overcome my fear? You walk towards it. If I have a fear of failure, I'm going to put myself in positions consistently to fail. If I have a fear of being rejected, I'm going to put myself in positions to consistently be rejected. Here's what's going to end up happening. Eventually you're going to get over that fear because you're going to realize that that fear was not real outside of you, and the more that you step towards it, the more comfortable you're going to become with it. And now you just won't have as much fear and maybe you'll start that podcast and instead of you taking four years to get to a million downloads, it's going to take you two months because you had been putting energy into it and knowing that you could do this.
Speaker 1:I started this elite mindset group coaching program and it's group coaching for people who are entrepreneurs, business owners, real estate agents, professionals, business professionals. I started teaching them and coaching them the mindset behind business, and it's amazing how many of them did not realize that everything that they struggle with in business was nothing more than the reflection of what they struggled with on the inside. That was it. So we'll go here and try to build the business and do all this and do all that, but we got holes on the inside. Fix the holes on the inside and the business becomes simple. So what's my point today? What's the point of this podcast? The grass is going to be greener. Wherever you put your energy into.
Speaker 1:There's a lot of distractions in the world right now and sometimes, sometimes, those distractions present themselves as quote unquote opportunities. You know what you've been called to do. Deep down inside your soul, you know what you're supposed to do. Good God, almighty, you know what you were put here for. You know what lights you up and what brings a smile to your face and what you could do all day long. You know what it is.
Speaker 1:But deep down inside, you're conflicted because that thing isn't going to make you money. That thing isn't going to pay your bills. That thing isn't glamorous. That thing isn't going to get you followers. That thing isn't glamorous. That thing isn't going to get you followers. That thing isn't sexy. So now, what do you do? You put it off and you put it off and you put it off, and then you're sitting here being presented with opportunities that seem so great but really, at the end of the day, they're just distracting you from what you know you feel like you're called to do.
Speaker 1:I'm here to tell you follow your heart and listen to it, because that's where the water is most potent. That's where it is when you follow your heart, when you follow your heart and listen to your soul's calling, regardless if it makes you rich, regardless if it's going to make you money, because you feel like, deep down in your soul of souls, I got to go and do this. When you do that, that water that you will be pouring on your grass, on your lawn, that energy that you will be putting into your life, that water has fertilizer in it, that good good, that fertilizer that will make things grow in your life, in a way, exceedingly and abundantly, as they would say back in church. Exceedingly and abundantly, as they would say back in church. So this is why it was so important for you to trust yourself. This is why it was so important for you to trust yourself.
Speaker 1:Now I know I'm going to get this question. Somebody going to ask me well, what's the difference? What's the difference between having hope and being optimistic versus being realistic? May I? I don't want to hear nothing about being realistic, because realistic comes from the word reality and reality comes from you. You are the one who is creating your reality. No one else is creating your reality but you. So, whatever you believe is real, that will be what you subscribe to, that will be what you act on. That was like asking Wilbur and Orville Wright back in the day oh, be realistic, you're going to really build something that's going to defy the law of gravity. Those two brothers had to think outside of the box. Meaning they had to think outside of the box of realism, because every time we think of something as being realistic, all you just did is cage yourself in. Every time we say something is realistic, we cage ourself in.
Speaker 1:I'm here to tell you ain't nothing unrealistic. If I can believe that this is possible meaning I can create a belief system that this can be done you better believe that it can be done, because how in the world could I be gifted with the inspiration and the imagination to be able to think of something but not be then gifted with the capabilities to be able to bring it into reality? Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing. I'm saying right now Whatever you could imagine, whatever you saw, whatever you believed, you would have already been given the tools to be able to create that. Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing, nothing. Okay, I'm throwing the battery of my own back. I just had a download. If you can think of a goal, it has just entered into your sphere of awareness and whatever you are aware of that will be what you experience, and whatever you experience will be what you call reality. So it will be real to you, no matter how quote unquote big, your goal is Maybe you want to start a flying plane that nobody had ever seen.
Speaker 1:You got to think. Back back in the early 1900s. Somebody said these two brothers said we want to build an airplane. There had never been such thing as an airplane. There had never been such thing as a pilot. Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing. I could understand if they were pilots and they build an airplane. There was no such thing. But they use this tool that we've been gifted with through this universal mind, this thing called the imagination, to be able to conjure up what was possible.
Speaker 1:Here's the beauty of it. You are a chip off the old block, you are a droplet of the ocean, you are a part of the infinite. So therefore, because you are infinite, there is no finite other than inside of the infinite. So now, if I can believe it, if I can think of it, you better believe it can be done. You better believe it can be done. You better believe it can be done. Now we can go into the religious world, if you want.
Speaker 1:I try to make this non-dualistic, but if you want to go into the religious world, how in the world are you going to sit here and say something's realistic? You know what God's probably saying. God's saying this hard-headed mother over here trying to tell me what's realistic and what's not. Do you not know that I could build anything out of nothing? Do you not know that something will always be created as long as you can put your mind around it? So, realistically, what's going to be defined by you? You are the one who decides what's realistic. What is real will be what you believe. What you believe is what creates your reality. So that's why I have to get rid of the beliefs that are limited. If I can get rid of the limited beliefs, I've just ushered in a new opportunity for a new reality. And here's what's going to happen. Good God, almighty, you're going to start to see the expansion of your life. You're going to start to see life change because you give yourself permission to dream bigger and beyond, more than what anyone in your family has ever thought of, more than anyone in your community has thought of, more than anyone in your society has thought of.
Speaker 1:We can sit here and talk about some of these people. I'm not going to get into it. There's some influential figures, whether it's Jeff Bezos or it's Elon Musk or it doesn't matter who it is Some of these pioneers in the world of science. But I sit here and look back. I'm like these people are using the imagination to the fullest. Now, whether or not they're using it for the betterment of mankind, that's a whole another podcast, a whole another conversation.
Speaker 1:But my point of this is this when you look at, everything that has ever been created has only been created because the creator had believed that it was a possibility. You, my friend, are the creator of your life and your responsibility now is to make it a belief that it is possible for you to do so. I don't care what it is. You can make $10 million in a year. You make a billion dollars in a year. You can, as long as it's true in your mind, it's got to happen Now.
Speaker 1:We've talked about this before. You can't just sit here and imagine that it's real, and imagine it happening, and then not take action. But if you start to really take action meaning I'm going to keep watering this grass, I'm going to take a step every single day. Eventually, what's going to end up happening is the universe is going to provide support conversation. You're going to see a reel, a book of fall in your lap. Somebody will show up on your feed and that's going to be the support that's needed. You're going to feel a shift. You're going to be like whoa, something. I feel like this was divinely orchestrated for me. Somehow I knew that this was for me. Yeah, this is the universe giving you that energy back. See, people always think that you're going to get the energy back in the same way that you put it Uh-uh, no, no, no, no, no, no. You're going to get that energy back in the way that was needed for you to continue to evolve. The way that you evolved was not decided by you in space and time. It was decided by you who was outside of space and time, your higher self, your spirit, whatever you refer to it as the self.
Speaker 1:I know I'm floating around a lot, but I have to encourage you right now, in this moment. I have to encourage you in this moment, to take the risk and double down on you. If there's a risk, a reward has to be on the other side. There has to be. It got harder when I had a family to take these risks. I used to take risk, risk. I'm taking big risks.
Speaker 1:I'm leaving college with no deal. My mom looked at me crazy and said boy, what are you talking about? You went to college for four years. Mom I know you're going to listen to this and we've had this conversation. You've went to school for four years and you are almost graduating. Are you going to leave to go play basketball? But you could have just gone back for one semester, mom. I got to go. I got to go. Now it paid off. I'm going to start this business, yeah, but what are you going to do? I don't know. I'm just going to train kids. I have no idea. I'm just going to teach them everything I ever learned. I'll start with these two brothers at a park. I'll do that. That was a risk. I could have went and got a job. I probably should have went and got a job, something that you all do not know.
Speaker 1:For that first eight months, I needed help paying my mortgage. My father, god bless him. He helped me. He said, son, I'll help you. If I see you going after your dreams, I will do all I can to help you. And he had to help me 15 years ago and he had to help me 15 years ago. My point of this is this it was because, once I started to go after my soul, I had started to go after what I felt I was called to do. The support came. Every time that you go after your calling, every time you go after what your heart is telling you to do, the support will come. It always will. It always has it, never not won't. And that's where the trust comes in. The trust is that when you feel like you're about to fall, something or someone is going to be there to catch you.
Speaker 1:I'll tell you a true story. Before I started my other business, my training business, when I was training pro athletes and basketball, I went down to Florida. I went down to Delray Beach, florida, and I reached out to a guy. His name was Gannon Baker. He was my mentor. He was a trainer. He'd been doing this for so long. Right Worked with LeBron, he worked with Kobe, worked with Chris Paul, worked with all these players. And I went down there.
Speaker 1:I was in the worst state of my mind. I had just been fired by the Harlem Globetrotters. I went to a wedding of my teammates in wouldn't look at me. I felt so dejected and so little. My bank account was dwindling. It was all these negative things, right. But I was supposed to stay after that wedding and stay in Florida so I could go and learn from Gannon for a week and really get it under my belt the experience of working in a pre-draft camp with him working with these guys getting ready for the NBA.
Speaker 1:So my family left and they went home and I was supposed to go up north I don't know 45 minutes to Delray Beach, and I'm supposed to go, and my ride wasn't there to pick me up. My ride was not there to pick me up. How many times does this happen when things didn't go the way you thought they should have? How many times does this happen when things didn't go the way you thought they should have? You had done all that you could. You had done all that you couldn't. It just didn't look like how you thought it was going to look. And now here I am, sitting in this terminal and I said my ride's not here. I'm texting Gannon, I'm texting. He's like man. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. Somebody was supposed to be able to pick you up and I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, somebody was supposed to pick you up. And I'm like, man, I'm going home, I'm going home and I opened up my phone, I opened up the app I go to buy a plane ticket to go home. I swear to you on everything.
Speaker 1:This is a true story. I went to hit purchase and right before I went to hit purchase, my higher self stopped me in this lower reality. It stopped me and I looked to my right and when I looked to my right, there was a guy who was seven foot four coming down the escalator. Now, he was seven foot four and I know he was seven foot four because he was my teammate with the Harlem Globetrotters and he was at the wedding. But now why is he at this airport? He comes down and he says, hey, my flight got changed, it actually got canceled and now I have to drive down to here. I think it was going to Miami. I said, wow, I need a ride to where I was going. He gave me a ride. He gave me a ride and I never hit purchase. And that week that I spent it gave me the confidence, it gave me the competency, it gave me the understanding. Week that I spent it gave me the confidence it gave me, the competency, it gave me the understanding, it gave me the blueprint, the framework, the process, the systems for me to grow a basketball training business from the ground up.
Speaker 1:Why am I telling you this? Because there's going to be times at some point, where you're going to be watering this grass and you're going to swear to yourself that it's not going to grow and you're going to say to yourself this was all for nothing. Please know that nothing is wasted. Nothing is wasted, my friend. Go ahead and say it to yourself Nothing is wasted, nothing is wasted. It all matters for this journey that you're on. So keep going, keep watering, keep pouring into yourself, keep figuring who you are, keep learning you, keep showing up and doing what's hard in your life. Keep just showing up every day. I promise you, if there's anything I can ever promise, this might be my last podcast. I don't know. We don't know what life holds, but if this is the last time that you ever hear me, please, please, please keep going, because you're going to find out more about yourself if you keep going than if you just give up.
Speaker 1:And I'm telling you from firsthand experience do you not stop, don't stop, do not stop watering your grass right where your feet are. Do not look at where you could have been. Do not look at where you should have been. Do not look at where someone else is. Water where your life is right now. Make the most of it, be grateful for it. It could be any other way, but look at the way it is now, and it may not be what you thought it was or what you thought it should be. The reality of it is, though, the the way it is now, and it may not be what you thought it was or what you thought it should be. The reality of it is, though. The reality of it is. This is what it is, so I might as well make a choice to water this grass right now. I wanted that soft, fluffy Bermuda grass, but they gave me the old nappy crabgrass, and this crabgrass maybe isn't what I wanted, but you know what? I got a bucket full of water, and I got a hose that works, so I'm going to get to watering it right now, and then, guess what? Maybe, eventually, I'll be able to get some of that Bermuda grass mixed in with it, that golf course grass, but for right now, I'm going to water what I have, and it's that simple, folks, it is that simple.
Speaker 1:Show up and do the small things every single day. Journal every day, meditate every day, do your breath, work every day, pour life into you every day. Encourage yourself every day. Speak nice to yourself every day. Go into your shadows every day. Heal those wounds every day. Have meaningful conversations every day. Heal those wounds every day. Have meaningful conversations every day. Be intentional with your life every single day. And I am here to tell you. I promise you, I promise, I promise. I promise. If you can be consistent and be deliberate, life will change, I promise you, and it will conform exactly to the way that you wanted it, exactly to the way that you wanted it. As always, I wish you nothing but the best on the pathway to your results. You.
