Speaker 1:

So this concept of imposter syndrome, imposter syndrome, right? So I went and looked it up. I was like what is this thing? Imposter syndrome? Because I was feeling this weird feeling two weeks ago of like imposter syndrome. Because I was feeling this weird feeling two weeks ago of almost like I know that I'm capable, I know I can do it, but it doesn't feel like I can. And then there's a conflict inside. It's really hard to really put into words and I had another client. He said he's like, yeah, imposter syndrome the struggle with. So I'm like man, what is this imposter syndrome?

Speaker 1:

So it says imposter syndrome is a psychological phenomenon where individuals doubt their abilities, feeling like frauds, despite their evidence of their success. People with imposter syndrome often believe that they don't deserve their achievements, in fear of being exposed as quote, unquote fake. They may attribute accomplishments to luck or external factors, rather than their skills or hard work. This feeling of inadequacy can affect high achieving individuals across various fields, including business, academics, creative pursuits, often leading to anxiety, self-doubt and perfectionism.

Speaker 1:

Y'all stay with me here because somebody is going to speak to somebody. We all go through imposter syndrome, all of us. We all deal with imposter syndrome, I don't care who you are. I just got off the phone yesterday with an agent. I didn't just get off the phone, but I had a conversation with an agent in the NBA yesterday. Her client that she represents is a top three player in the NBA. If I said his name, you all would know exactly who it is. So we were having a consultation about possibly maybe working with somebody who she's associated with. I think I knew who it is, but anyway, she was saying how these guys struggle with imposter syndrome. I said well, of course they do. We all struggle with imposter syndrome.

Speaker 1:

Y'all stay with me because I'm going to give you the real. I'm going to give you the low down on what imposter syndrome is. You know what imposter syndrome is? It's when you got one foot on one side of the line and you got another foot on the other side of the line, meaning you ain't fully a butterfly yet and you ain't still fully a caterpillar yet. So now you're in limbo.

Speaker 1:

I know I'm creating a new version of me and I know that I'm capable of doing more. But yet I'm still stuck in this old life because my surroundings still look the same, the people around me still looks the same, the energy on the outside still looks the same, but inside of me there's something saying you can do more, you can be more. You need to start carrying yourself differently. In that time in between of when it shows itself in the physical reality, you're going to feel like a fraud, you're going to feel like a fake, you're going to feel this thing that we call imposter syndrome. So I started to look at my life. Y'all stay with me here. Stay with me here because I'm going to be open. I'm going to be honest with you. I'll say look, I don't have it all figured out. I only know what I know and what I've experienced in this existence right now. So here I am making a pivot, making a push here in my business.

Speaker 1:

It's like I want to start helping more entrepreneurs, because I'm at a place now where I'm starting to realize everybody can have it all. You can have more time, you can have more freedom, you can have more money, you can have more fulfillment, you can live every day, doing what you want to do, despite what we've been told, that you got to get lucky and you're going to have to do this. So I'm like I have this drive. I have this desire to help people, to build businesses so they can do things that they love to do, so they'll never have to work another day in their life. So this is something that's like it's just come over me and I'm like I'm in the vibration. You start understanding numerology. I'm in the vibration of five right now, which is change. But then here's what ends up happening you start to make this pivot. You start to make this change.

Speaker 1:

Right, maybe you're talking a little differently. Things that resonate with you used to resonate with you don't resonate anymore. Now you're starting to make this change, but then there's still the old parts of you. There's still the old parts of your mind. There's still the old programs that say, yeah, but that isn't who you are. Yeah, but that isn't what we do.

Speaker 1:

Imagine this It'd be like the caterpillar the caterpillar going to become the butterfly and halfway in between, when it starts to grow the wings, but it still has this little tubular body like a caterpillar. It starts to have this internal conflict of saying, yeah, but we crawl around, we don't fly places, we don't do that. So now we feel like imposters because we're still identifying as the old version of us, but we're stepping into the new version of us. So we feel like we're being fake, we feel like we're not being authentic, we feel like we're being frauds. So when something does happen that mirrors the inside of what we're trying to become, we'll say that we got lucky. We'll say that it was a fluke. Oh man, that was crazy man, I can't believe this happened. Wow, no-transcript.

Speaker 1:

So here's what I started to realize in my own life If you're going to straddle the line, you're going to have to go ahead and pick a side. If you're going to straddle the line, go ahead and pick a side, meaning I can't hold on to the old life and move into the new life. I'm going to have to do one or the other. I'm going to have to get rid of the old way of thinking if I'm going to have this new life. I'm going to have to get rid of the old way of thinking if I'm going to have this new life. I'm going to have to get rid of the old self-concept if I'm going to have this new life. And here's the warning when you adopt the new way of thinking, the new self-concept, please believe it ain't going to show itself right away. It ain't going to show itself immediately. It won't do it. There's going to be a delay, and this is where we wait for reality to catch up.

Speaker 1:

But in that in-between, you are sitting here on the inside saying I know that I'm him, but on the outside it's looking like that you were washed up. So what do you feel like? You feel like an imposter. So here's why I have to say this. I'm not going to shine negativity on imposter syndrome. I probably might be the only one who you ever heard, the only one you ever heard. It's not like I'm from Memphis or I'm from St Louis. I may be the only one that you hear. That will tell you if you are feeling like an imposter. This is a positive sign that you are beginning the journey of moving into the new life. This is a positive thing. You are starting to move, to move into the new life of being a butterfly, of being that frog instead of being the tadpole. You're starting to grow your legs, sorry, yeah, legs, yeah, tadpoles grow legs. But so I started to look at myself and I'm like why do I make it seem so negative that you were like imposter syndrome?

Speaker 1:

How else in the world, how else did we ever achieve or accomplish a new way of being? How else did we do it? You had at some point had to become an imposter. Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing. Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing that I'm saying right now. How in the world were you going to become a division one athlete thinking that you were a division three athlete? How in the world were you going to become a division one athlete thinking that you were a division three athlete? How in the world were you going to get to the NBA if you didn't ever think that you were even worthy of playing college? How in the world were you going to build a seven-figure business if you didn't even think that you were worthy of making six figures? How in the world was that going to happen? You were going to have to create an imposter. You were going to have to create a version of you that wasn't actually existing in the physical reality yet you were going to have to become an imposter.

Speaker 1:

So when they say you have imposter syndrome, you damn right. I got imposter syndrome because I knew the only way for me to create this in my reality was I was going to have to be it before I see it. Y'all ain't trying to hear nothing. I'm saying right now, might as well go ahead and get off and be done. Some of us ain't trying to hear nothing that I'm saying. This was a part of your evolution and of your journey. Everybody's an imposter until you do it. Huh, everybody is an imposter until you do it. What you are listening to right now, at one point, this was the imposter. Y'all ain't trying to hear me. This was the imposter.

Speaker 1:

Four years ago, when I sat here, I used to sit at a desk when I didn't know whether or not I wanted to live. I didn't even know what I wanted to do in life and I would sit here at a desk with a suit on and talk to nobody on the phone and pretend that I was having conversations with influential figures, that I was having conversations to helping people. I had to be something before anybody ever saw it. This was the only way, and here's the thing fully had imposter syndrome and the reason why it was so hard because the version of you, of who you've been, is like oh no, I'm going to have to die in order to become this new thing. So what's going to do? It's going to make you feel guilty. It's going to make you feel less than. It's going to make you feel like you're not good enough. It's going to make you feel like an imposter. It's going to make you feel like this is luck. It's going to make you feel like this is just something that randomly happened. No, it happened because you made the choice and you doubled down and you said to yourself I'm going to be it before I see it and I'm going to keep being it until I see it. And then, when I see it, I'm going to enjoy it. And then I'm going to create another version of myself, and then another, and then another, and then another. Do you see how this works? So when somebody tells you, oh well, I have an imposter syndrome, shake their hand and say congratulations you on your way to your new life. Do not turn around Now. I'm going to let this pause so it can marinate and sizzle in your spirit, because I really don't understand. I don't think you really get what I'm trying to drop off to you right now.

Speaker 1:

I used to walk around and pretend I was something more than I was and lo and behold, it happened. It happened. It happened. And here's the thing I didn't ever tell anybody. I just walk around using my imagination and it happened. And then I started to do it again, and then it would happen. And then I went through a stage in life where I stopped doing it. I stopped doing it because I focused my gaze on the outside. You got to be a father. You got to be a husband. You got to be a provider. You got to do this. I stopped dreaming. I stopped dreaming. I stopped creating versions of myself. I stopped creating versions of myself. I stopped creating new actors, new characters. I stopped doing it and for about 10 years of my life it sunk me into.

Speaker 1:

I guess you can call it depression, I guess you can say it. But I realized what it was. My soul, your soul, loves to see what it can become. It loves to see what it's capable of. It don't want to stay the same. That's why you don't wear the same costume every year for Halloween. Some of us need to start dressing up for Halloween every day. We need to start treating our life like it's Halloween.

Speaker 1:

Every single day is a new opportunity for me to put on a new character, a new way of being, a new way of life. And in between, when it shows itself, I'm going to have to impostulate, I'm going to have to be an imposter. So when we start to see that imposter syndrome is actually a positive thing, I went a step further. I went a layer deeper to figure out why am I feeling so unworthy? And here's what ended up happening. The universe conspired. It conspired to show me what was underneath the surface, what was underneath the hood. So here I am, trying to step into this new life, this new way of being, this new part of business, this new wave of entrepreneurship, this new frequency.

Speaker 1:

So I start sending people DMs. Hey, you're looking for a coach. Hey, are you looking for somebody to work with? I'm going to start a mastermind. Do you need help with your business? So I send this person a DM. You know what they respond with. Do you know how to sell a business? Or have you ever sold a business in your life?

Speaker 1:

Oh, my goodness, it triggered the crap out of me. It brought up the imposter. It brought up the version that you're trying to become. It brought up all the doubt. See, you're not it. You've never sold a business. See, you've never helped anybody sell a business. See you're. You see how this comes up.

Speaker 1:

So now I was able to see Ah, the trigger. The trigger was just trying to show me something that I was unaware of. You still ain't stepped fully stepped into it. You ain't fully stepped into it. You haven't, you ain't doubled down. It's like when you catch the ball in the wing in a basketball game and you haven't made your mind up that you're going to shoot it and you like, okay, maybe I'll shoot it, maybe I won't, and then you shoot it. You're like dang, dang, and you miss it and you knew you could have made it, but it's because you didn't fully double down.

Speaker 1:

You're going to have to, at some point, burn the boats. You know what it means to burn the boats. I mean, you find a new. When they say, when you find a new island, when you find a new place, you burn the boats that you came on so you can't turn back around. At some point you're going to have to burn the boats. At some point you're going to have to say you know what? I'm going to start this business. I'm going to sign up for the Elite Mindset group coaching. I'm going to go on a retreat. I'm going to say something within this marriage, I'm going to start healing these inner wounds. We ain't going to be able to burn. We ain't going to sit here and teeter back and forth. Nah, I'm going to step all the way into it. Oh, and please believe, it's going to be uncomfortable, it's going to be painful, it's going to be scary.

Speaker 1:

You can burn the mother boats, burn them up, and now here's what's going to end up happening. Here's what's going to end up happening when you burn the boat and you know you can't turn around. This is when the imposter becomes the embodiment. This is when you become him. This is when you become her. When you double down on the impostulation, when you double down on the imposter syndrome and you say I'm going to be him until I see it. I'm going to keep being him, regardless of the situation and regardless of the circumstances of what goes on the outside, I'm going to keep being him. And here's the deal. I make sure that I have things in place, meaning my daily standards, my non-negotiables, those things that I do every day will support this future version of me. I'm going to keep doing that every single day. So even if it doesn't show itself, it won't matter, because I've already created the frequency, the version of myself on the inside. But here's what I do know as within. So without. So it ain't got no mother choice but to show itself. When you start to double down on that energy I will promise you this it will show itself in your physical reality. And hear me when I say this Everybody is different. It may take you two months, it may take you 10 years, it does not matter. That isn't what you were after. Anyway, on the outside, it was who you were on the inside that you were actually chasing. So I told you that this NBA agent that reached out and his players, like I said, top three. I wish I could tell you who it was, but top three player in the NBA, top three, you got to put him in the greats Hall of Fame. He's a Hall of Famer. Anyway, agent reached out.

Speaker 1:

I had a dream four years ago. I had a dream four years ago that I was working with this guy. And here's what I started to do. I used to pretend, I used to learn everything about him. I looked everything up about him, learned who his mom was his dad. I started to move in the energy that I was already working with him, because I got that dream. I had that dream, I had that premonition that was enough to create a subconscious belief that this was even possible.

Speaker 1:

So then, now, guess what? Here we are four years later, four years later, and this reality showed itself. Whether or not I actually work with him, in what capacity, it's irrelevant. I took it as a sign, as the universe saying you're at that frequency now. You did it. You did it. You created that version of you that you were looking to create and you were using this physical thing as a reflection to remind yourself and show yourself.

Speaker 1:

Do we see how this works? So for us, imposter syndrome, let's reframe it. As we do with everything, there's infinite perspectives as to how we can look at something. Let's reframe the way we look at imposter syndrome. Let's not look at it as something that being negative. Let's instead look in and say you know what this is. You know what imposter syndrome really is.

Speaker 1:

I'm feeling this because I haven't fully stepped into who I want to be, I haven't fully committed and doubled down on this new life that I want to live, and I have to make sure that I take action on that, because the way to combat imposter syndrome is through you taking action is through you taking action. When you take action, you're moving in the vibration of the future you. But as long as we don't take action, the imposter syndrome is going to paralyze us. So give yourself permission to create this new version of yourself and then step all the way into it. Burn the boats, burn the bridges, flatten the tires, whatever you need to do. Step all the way into it.

Speaker 1:

And then here's the deal. I say 90 days. Some people it takes longer. Maybe 120 days is better for you. Give yourself enough time for it to start to show yourself in your reality. Don't just give up so quickly.

Speaker 1:

And I'm here to tell you. I'm here to tell you what's going to happen. You're going to start doing this and I say probably about day 17,. Oh, it's going to get hard. About day 17 is when you're going to start to question yourself. That's when the imposter is going to come up, about day 17,. And he's going to be. She's going to hang around for probably about four or five, six, seven days, and then you'll get over the hump and then you're going to ask yourself what's the point of doing this? Because on the inside you feel like it, but it's not showing on the outside yet. This is where we got to stop focusing on the outside and focus all of your energy on the inside.

Speaker 1:

I'm just telling you everything that I've done in my life so relish in this new version, this imposter that you're creating. That's going to be needed until you get to the level of being it and actually seeing it, and then you won't be an imposter anymore. You won't. They didn't tell you that imposter syndrome was actually a form, a process. It was a stage in this journey of creating yourself. It's going to be needed. It's not negative.

Speaker 1:

So if you need help, I'm offering two resources. Number one I told you at the beginning go on Amazon right now and order your copy of the Seven Laws of Healing your Inner Child. It is out now.
